CYS 2023 Panel Discussion: Young People’s Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Information and Services – Enhancing Young People’s Well-Being

The four-day Summit commenced Wednesday, 22 November, at the AC Hotel Marriot, Kingston, Jamaica. Activities are being held under the theme: ‘Securing Our Future: Youth Co-Creating a Peaceful and Sustainable Caribbean Community.’

The SRH session focused on how sexual education can be effectively integrated into the Health and Family Life Education (HFLE) systems to ensure that young people in and out of school are informed about their sexual and reproductive health rights and choices.

The discussion also sought to address areas such as universal access to reproductive health, with a focus on marginalised communities, friendly services for youth and gender equality, inclusivity and the role sexual and reproductive health services play in preventing and addressing gender-based violence.

The necessary supporting mechanisms, legislation and policy framework were also discussed.
