CARICOM congratulates St. Kitts and Nevis on its 40th Independence Anniversary

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated St Kitts and Nevis on its 40th Anniversary of Independence which it celebrates on Tuesday, 19 September 2023.

Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett, in a congratulatory message to St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, noted the country’s consistent and dedicated advocacy in Health and Human Resource matters for which it has responsibility in CARICOM’s Quasi-Cabinet:

“Honourable Prime Minister,

On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), it is my pleasure to extend congratulations to the Government and People of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, as you celebrate your country’s Fortieth Anniversary of Independence under the theme, “Growing Sustainably, Developing Maturely, Building Resiliency: Independence 40”.

This is a significant milestone in the Federation’s history, and a time to reflect, with pride and satisfaction, on your development over the past four decades as an independent nation. The resourcefulness, creativity, and determination of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis are clearly seen in your accomplishments, particularly in tourism, sports, education and business .

Honourable Prime Minister, CARICOM has greatly benefitted from the commitment of the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis. The Federation remains a consistent and dedicated advocate for issues related to regional Human Resource Development, Health and HIV/AIDS for which you, Prime Minister, have lead responsibility in the Quasi-Cabinet of the Conference of Heads of Government. The Community looks forward to your continued active engagement as we seek to realise our objectives for regional health, wellness and development.

Prime Minister, CARICOM joins the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis in celebrating this Fortieth Anniversary of Independence, and extends wishes for the continued advancement and well-being of its People.”
