CARICOM Digital Skills TaskForce holds Webinar on ‘Leveraging Digital Skills for Caribbean Prosperity’

The third and final in the CARICOM Digital Skills Taskforce Webinar Series will be held on Thursday, 29 June 2023 from noon to 1:30 pm (Atlantic Standard Time). The Inclusion Webinar will focus on the theme ‘Leveraging Digital Skills for Caribbean Prosperity’.

Broadly, the series aims to explore how digital skills can be utilised to drive sustainable economic growth, social development, and overall prosperity in the Caribbean region. It is also intended to:

· Provide an overview of the broad goals for building digital skills to promote sustainable development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) of the Caribbean.

· Identify specific opportunities for regional cooperation, including programmes, to advance digital skill building in the region.

· Advocate for more inclusive digital solutions that consider individuals with limited literacy, digital skills, and access to digital tools.

Task Force members Caron David and Steffon Lewis will moderate the session on Thursday.

Prof. Felipe Ortiz Chibas, UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance (MIL) Representative for Latin American and the Caribbean, will lead the session on Digital Skills as Tools for Inclusion: Empowering Individuals and Communities.

Ms. Kerryann Ifill of the Caribbean Council for the Blind, will focus on ‘Inclusion of persons with disabilities” Caribbean Council for the Blind’; while Mrs. Tyrhonda Knowles-Glinton, Director, HRIS & Compliance Atlantis Bahamas, will address the matter of ‘Women and girls Inclusion’.

Mrs. Sandra York Gumbs, Managing Director and Proprietor, Comprehensive Learning Centre, will focus on ‘Enhancing digital skills of older adults’.
