Schools in Trinidad and Tobago Closed as Country Faces Severe Weather

(Trinidad and Tobago Weather Centre) The Ministry of Education announced all schools in Trinidad will be closed on Monday, November 28th, 2022. The school closures come as Trinidad faces severe flooding with an Orange Level Adverse Weather Alert and Riverine Flood Alert in effect.

This school closure comes exactly one month after severe weather prompted the closure of schools across both islands for Friday, October 28th, 2022.

Heavy rainfall associated with a trough that moved across T&T on Saturday, and a southeasterly flow of moisture led to significant rainfall across the country over the last 36-48 hours, with more rainfall on tap for Monday.

Multiple rivers have broken their banks over the last 36 hours with the Caroni River flooding most of the Caroni River Basin on Sunday evening. Several roadways across Trinidad remain impassable due to erosion, landslides, and flooding.
