Opening Ceremony, 44th Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) – Ministers of Education from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are meeting in Georgetown, Guyana on 13-14 October to discuss the strengthening of the Region’s education sector, in their first face-to-face meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 44th Meeting of the CARICOM Council of Human and Social Development (COHSOD) will be held at the CARICOM Secretariat and will see Ministers of Education examining regional, and national actions to address the learning gaps created by school closures during the pandemic.

The packed agenda of the meeting also includes matters related to quality and equitable education, CARICOM Standards for the Teaching Profession, recommendations for the new Caribbean School Model, and the implementation of the CARICOM Human Resource Development Strategy.
