Looking back at La Soufriere eruption

Saturday 9 April 2022, marked a year since La Soufriere volcano erupted in St. Vincent and the Grenadines causing widespread damage and displacement.

The first explosive event 9 April, 2021 occurred at about 8:41am. The explosive eruptions ended on 22 April 2021 and the alert level was reduced to green on 16 March 2022.

From Dec 2020 until November 2021, the volcano experienced effusive and explosive phases and then a return to background levels. Visiting the volcano is discouraged as the terrain is still very dangerous, the Agency for Public Information of St. Vincent and the Grenadines said.
