Guyana, Barbados lift curfews

As countries move towards a semblance of normalcy in the COVID-19 environment, CARICOM Member States have been lifting curfews imposed to help curb the spread of the disease.

Within the past week, Guyana and Barbados lifted their curfews but retained other restrictions and protocols to fight the pandemic.

Guyana lifted its curfew on 11 February. The National COVID-19 Task Force advised though that restrictions remained in some areas, and encouraged persons to act responsibly.

Barbados lifted its curfew on 14 February.

“In order to move the country back to opening while observing protocols, the curfew will be removed. Therefore, with effect from … February 14, which happens to be Valentine’s Day, the curfew will be lifted. I am sure that restaurants and other authorised dining facilities will want to fully cater to the ‘pent up’ demand of Barbadians and visitors on this extra special day.  Patrons will no longer have to watch the clock,” Minister of Health and Wellness, Ian Gooding-Edghill announced.
