CARICOM Heads of Government Expected in Barbados to Celebrate Transition to Republic Status

(Barbados Government Information Service Press Release) Regional heads of government and state are expected on island to join Barbadians in the celebrations to mark the transition to republic status come November 30. 

Cabinet Secretary, Hughland Allman, made the announcement during a press conference this evening.

He disclosed that based on several requests from the regional and international community to attend this “very auspicious occasion” that invitations had been sent to all CARICOM Heads of Government and State.

So far, approximately seven CARICOM heads confirmed their attendance, with others expecting to do so in the coming days.  

In addition, Mr. Allman stated that the heads of government from Liberia and Ghana had been invited to the celebrations and in the event that they are unable to attend may send messages to Barbados.
