Joint Tourism Policy aims to stimulate industry recovery

On 30 June, 2021, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis, chaired the Second Meeting of the CARICOM Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Tourism, via videoconference from the Office of the Prime Minister.

Regional Heads of Government and tourism officials discussed the latest in the development of a Joint Tourism Policy for the Caribbean Community.

The Policy is aimed at addressing the urgent need to stimulate the recovery of the tourism industry while building on efforts already established to address the industry’s longer-term growth, inclusiveness, and sustainability.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Darren Henfield; Minister of Tourism Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar; High Commissioner to CARICOM, Reuben Rahming; and Director General of Tourism, Mrs. Joy Jibrilu, also attended the meeting.

It is expected that recommendations related to the Joint Policy will be submitted to the 42nd Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government for approval. (Office of the Prime Minister Communications Unit)
