Morgan Heritage on Coming 2 America-inspired album

(Jamaica Observer) SIBLING reggae band Morgan Heritage has copped a slot on the soundtrack to the highly anticipated film Coming 2 America, which is scheduled to be released on March 5.

The Grammy-winning aggregation, all children of reggae legend Denroy Morgan, has contributed a track to the Rhythms of Zamunda soundtrack that is inspired by the comedy which is a sequel to the 1988 hit. The soundtrack is being released simultaneously with the film by Def Jam Recordings in partnership with Def Jam Africa.

Morgan Heritage is featured on the track Hallelujah, alongside Tanzanian recording artiste Diamond Platnumz. Last week the project’s lead single, Black & White by South African rapper Nasty C featuring American R&B singer Ari Lennox, was released by the label. Other artistes featured on Rhythms of Zamunda include South African acts Ricky Tyler, Tellaman, Prince Kaybee, Msaki, DJ Ganyani, Th&o, Bonj, Anatii, De Mthuda and Njelic. Nigeria is represented by Tiwa Savage, Oxlade, Larry Gaaga, Umu Obiligbo, Tekno, Alpha P and TMXO. Other acts from the African continent who appear on the album besides Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania) are Sha Sha (Zimbabwe), Gemini Major (Malawi), , Locko (Cameroon), Toofan (Togo), Fally Ipupa (DRC), and the late DJ Arafat (Côte d’Ivoire).
