CARIFORUM Countries To Receive A Boost To Water Security

(Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre Press Release)  The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC/5Cs), with funding from the Intra-ACP GCCA+, continues its efforts to build resilience to climate change across the Region, in the water sector.  Recently, the CCCCC launched a call to develop guidelines for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for climate adaptation in water utilities across the CARIFORUM region.

The SOPs will contribute to the improvement of water security in the CARIFORUM member states, and will also account for aspects of governance, while addressing adaptation measures in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), including water collection, and consumption – to reduce the conditions that foster exploitation of the resource, and water utility planning.

The idea is to “build resilience to water utilities in Small Islands Development States (SIDS) such as those in the CARIFORUM Region”, says Mr Ansel Dubon, Lead Project Manager at the CCCCC. “Precisely what we are expecting from this assignment is to set the foundational procedures to promote climate change adaptation in the water utilities and IWRM in the CARIFORUM Member States.”

SOFRECO, a global company providing technical assistance for a myriad of sustainable economic and social development projects, was contracted to develop the SOPs guidelines. The company provides quality services to clients worldwide that leads to better allocation and management of available resources.
