Guyana, Suriname Recommit to Continued Development

(Department of Public Information) Following bilateral talks on Sunday, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and President of Suriname, His Excellency Chandrikapersad Santokhi, pledged their commitment to ensuring continued development between the two states.

During a media briefing, President Ali indicated that the engagement between the two Heads of State was extensive, covering multiple sectors and was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship Guyana and Suriname share.

The talks also focused on “opening up emerging sectors and infrastructural link that can create opportunities for us and our human resources.”

Guyana’s Head of State highlighted that both nations share “similar challenges, circumstances and opportunities, as such, it is very critical and important for us to work together to find common solutions, to collaborate and to support each other in tackling the challenges while at the same time confront the opportunities for the people of both countries can benefit from.”
