Jamaica’s COVID-19 cases up to 753

On Thursday Jamaica recorded two (2) new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed positives for the island to 753.

The new cases include one male, age 44, and one female, age 55. The male is a Jamaican citizen of a St. James address. The female is a tourist, who had accommodations in St. Ann and was repatriated.

There are now 235 imported cases while 236 cases are contacts of confirmed cases; 39 are local transmission cases not epidemiologically linked; 236 are related to the workplace cluster in St. Catherine; and 7 are under investigation.

The majority of the confirmed cases are females (424 or 56%) and the others (329 or 44%) are males. They range in age from 2 months to 87 years.

Of the 753 cases confirmed with COVID-19 to date; 603 or 80% have recovered while 19 or 2.5% have repatriated and 10 or 1.3% have died. There are 121 or 16% active cases currently under observation. There are no moderately or critically ill persons among the active cases at this time.

The island’s testing numbers are now up 27,531, including the 753 positives, 26,722 negatives and 56 pending.
