COVID-19 Update Antigua and Barbuda May 6

The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda met for the fourth consecutive time by virtual means. This meeting lasted nearly four hours from 10:30a.m. until 2:15 p.m.
1. The Cabinet agreed:
a. To continue the 6:00 am to 6:00 pm curfew window for at least one more week. b. To remove the restriction on church gatherings such that services may resume on Sundays and Saturdays, as customary:
            i. all members of a single household may sit together in church;
            ii. the rules governing social distancing apply, requiring two pews to separate          the household clusters;
            iii. all are required to wear masks in church and when driving to church.        Where the size of a church building will not allow for members to attend and        to abide by the social distancing six-foot rule, that church may consider holding several services throughout the worship day, instead.
c. Beaches will now be opened on Saturdays and Sundays, and members of a single household may travel together in the family vehicle, all wearing masks. A driver occupying a vehicle all alone is NOT required to wear a mask, but that driver must return that mask to his/her face when that driver arrives at the destination. There is still to be NO music, food, picnicking at the beaches, from 6:00 to 6:00.
d. Restaurants are to continue to operate take-out and delivery service only for at least one more week; consideration to permit sit-down service will be announced next week with social distancing rules applying.
e. Barbers, hairdressers and nail salons may open immediately, but with all necessary preventive measures put in place. Masks are to be worn at all times during the exercise; social distancing between and among the operators and customers is required, and social-distancing practice within and outside of the establishment is imposed.
f. Real Estate Agents may begin again to show clients around, adhering to the rules of social distancing including wearing masks.
g. Cashing agencies may now send (as well as receive) sums of money from Antigua.
