CARICOM congratulates Grenada on its 46th Independence Anniversary

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated the Government and People of Grenada on the country’s forty-sixth Anniversary of Independence, on 7 February 2020.

The celebrations are being held under the theme “Preparing for the future through empowerment, growth, and long-term sustainable development”.

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, in a congratulatory message to Grenada’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, said the theme is a stirring call to the people to take advantage of their talents and abilities and the opportunities made available to them by participating actively in the continuing efforts towards the country’s development.

The Secretary-General noted that CARICOM has greatly benefited from the long-standing commitment of the Grenada Government and people to the integration process.

“Your leadership of the Community in the critical areas of Science and Technology and Statistics exemplifies your dedication to our Region’s advancement in today’s world,” Ambassador LaRocque said.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the Government and People of Grenada as they continue their march towards a viable, sustainable and prosperous country, which in turn serves to strengthen our Caribbean Community,” the Secretary-General said.
