“MUSLIMS OF CARICOM” book launched

Barbadian author, Mr Sabir Nakhuda, launched his new book– “Muslims of CARICOM”– at the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies in Barbados on Wednesday 8th January 2020.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley delivered the feature address at the boo launch

The feature address at the book launch was delivered by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

Addresses were also delivered by Chief Justice of Barbados, Sir Marston Gibson, and by Ambassador David Comissiong.

Mr Nakuda travelled to all fifteen CARICOM member states in order to carry out research for the book.

The book traces the story of the Muslim presence in the Caribbean from the pre-Columbus period, through the era of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the Post Emancipation/ indentured servant era, and into the 20th and 21st centuries.

Mr Nakhuda plans to launch the book in several CARICOM member states.
