CARICOM Committee of Ambassadors meets in Guyana

The CARICOM Committee of Ambassadors – comprising Ambassadors of Member States accredited to the Caribbean Community – is meeting in Guyana, today Thursday, to deliberate on matters to enhance their role in advancing the work of the Community and the benefits to the Region’s people.

The Meeting, under the Chairmanship of Saint Lucia’s Ambassador to CARICOM H.E. Elma Gene Isaac,  is among other things, examining the Committee’s role in the development of the next five year Strategic Plan for the Community, and plans for use of the Community Results-Based Management (RBM) system, designed to engender a more results oriented culture across the Community.

The Committee of Ambassadors, established in 2015, provides strategic advice to the Community Council towards the goal of advancing the integration movement. The Community Council, comprising Ministers responsible for CARICOM Affairs in Member States,  meet in Guyana on 4 December 2019.  The Ministers are expected to deliberate on, among other things, matters proposed for the next CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for Barbados in February 2019.
