Victory Speech by Montserrat’s new Premier

VICTORY SPEECH BY THE NEW PREMIER OF MONTSERRAT EASTON TAYLOR-FARRELL FOLLOWING THE ELECTION OF HIS MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE AND PROSPERITY IN GENERAL ELECTIONS ON MONDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2019

“Good Day Everyone, first let me say Thanks to Almighty God for all of his blessings on my team and I and to the good people of Montserrat. I am truly humbled by your support for my MCAP team and I.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who participated in this election …whether you voted for my team and I for the very first time or you have been a loyal supporter. I am humbled that you would place your faith and trust in us.

This is a responsibility that we do not take lightly, and will endeavor to represent you with the utmost transparency and boldness.

I would like to thank my opponents for running a competitive campaign, even though there were many disagreements with many of their policies, principles, and tactics, I wish them well. Let us continue to unite and heal our country, spreading love, compassion and understanding towards one another. I believe that it was the lack of such that caused the hate, disrespect and name calling that permeated some sections of the campaign.

I wish to express my greatest gratitude to our fantastic team. To our dedicated campaign manager Mr. Austin Howe, who made the campaign run smoothly thus ensuring that we were victorious and to the many loyal volunteers who worked tirelessly everyday during the campaign canvassing with and for us, they called supporters on the phone to secure their support and vote, I owe them an immeasurable debt of thanks.

To every one of our families….and extended family members I’m so grateful for your understanding, patience, love, support, prayers, and guidance throughout this entire campaign.

This has truly been a remarkable and historic victory not just for the MCAP team, but for all the people of Montserrat at home and abroad.

It’s a mandate for my team and I as your elected representatives to bring Good Governance, to our beloved Montserrat, and to serve with clean hands, a pure heart, a sharp mind, and a clear direction.

Added to all this, it is you the people of Montserrat, saying to an MCAP administration and I, that you support our efforts to build our economy, provide a fairer society for everyone living on Montserrat, to realize their full potential, to create more educational opportunities for our young people, to improve the lives of our seniors and to create employment opportunities for all, no matter who you supported on election Day.

This victory has laid the foundation for us to build on the changes and rescue our nation. The momentous task will not be easy, but we are here to serve you and we will work together, to ensure that each of you, overcome the challenges of change and as a village, grounded in a united Montserrat, aspire to a peaceful society.

My team and I, we pledge our support to work with all the elected representatives in Parliament to enact legislation which will expand our quality of life, while rigorously and robustly resisting destructive tendencies that keep us back.
This is your Victory….the victory of the good people of Montserrat.

God bless each of you and God bless Montserrat.
