CARICOM SG congratulates Belize on 38th Independence anniversary

Message by the Secretary-General of CARICOM, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque to the Prime Minister of Belize,  Rt. Honourable Dean Barrow, on the Thirty-Eighth Anniversary of the Independence of Belize

“On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend warmest congratulations to you and the people of Belize on the occasion of your country’s 38th Anniversary of Independence.

Belize’s theme “From Maya Grandeur to Modern Glory, Together Let’s Shape the Belizean Story!” underscores the determination of Belizeans to move forward in unity while keeping alive their rich heritage. The people of Belize through hard work and dedication to their country have ensured significant progress in many areas while building a nation of which they are justifiably proud.

Honourable Prime Minister, Belize has played a critical role in our CARICOM construct most notably in leading the portfolio for Justice and Governance in the CARICOM quasi-cabinet.

In congratulating Belize on this auspicious occasion, I reaffirm my own commitment and that of the staff of the CARICOM Secretariat to working alongside the government and people of your country in the realisation of your aspirations.”
