Saint Lucia upgraded to Hurricane Warning; Barbados, SVG under Tropical Storm Watch

Saint Lucia is now under a Hurricane Warning, while a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Barbados, Martinique and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a Tropical Storm Watch for Dominica, Grenada, Saba and St Eustatius.

The 11 a.m. update on Tropical Storm Dorian said hurricane conditions are possible in potions of the Windward Islands later today.

Dorian was located near latitude 12.3 North, longitude 57.7 West, or 135 miles (220 km) East-South-East of Barbados or 245 miles (395 km) ESE of Saint Lucia. It is moving towards the West-North-West at 14 miles per hour (22 km/h) with maximum sustained winds at 60 mph (95 km/h).

The storm is expected to bring up to ten inches of rainfall to the affected islands, and forecasters say its swells could cause life-threatening surfs and rip-current conditions.
